All Harbor Police officers attend 5 months of training at the Miramar College Regional Police Academy in order to become certified California Police Officers. After graduating they continue their training for 2 months in maritime firefighting, airport operations, weapons and tactics.

The Harbor Police recently achieved 100% staffing of 140 police officers and 25 civilians.
